The Wild Kei Run Itinerary

  • Day 1: Meet at the Wild Coast Casino at 7:30am (TBC)

We begin at the Wild Coast Casino, then transport runners to Mbotyi. On route, we’ll visit scenic spots such as Magwa Falls and Fraser Falls.

Accommodation: We will overnight at Pumla's Place, in rustic, comfortable cottages that boast panoramic sea views of the Mbotyi coast.

  • Day 2: Mboyti to Port Grosvenor (25km)

The journey kicks off with a run along the beach, crossing beautiful estuaries. Look forward to breathtaking scenery and natural wonders like Waterfall Bluff and Cathedral Rock. We finish before lunch at our accommodation for the night.

Accommodation: We will be staying at Lambazi Eco Lodge at Port Grosvenor, which is tucked away into a stunning coastal forest.

  • Day 3: Port Grosvenor to Mtentu (25km)

We’ll run through grasslands, wetlands, and forests. A highlight will be Grosvenor Bay, the site of an 18thcentury Portuguese shipwreck laden with treasures. Crossing the Msikaba Estuary, we’ll enter the Mkambati Nature Reserve and pass Mkambati Falls before stopping for a swim at Strandloper Falls— you might even brave a jump into the pools! A canoe will ferry us across the river to Mtentu Lodge.

Accommodation: We will overnight at Mtentu Lodge nestled on the edge of the Mkambati Nature Reserve.

  • Day 4: Mtentu to Port Edward (25km)

Our final day takes us along the coast to Sikombe, with a short beach run and river crossing. Heading inland, we’ll explore the Xolobeni Red Desert, a marvel of wind-sculpted sand formations. The beach run will continue past the Mzamba Petrified Forest and fossils (tide-dependent). We aim to reach Wild Coast Casino by late morning, where our adventure concludes.
